10 THINGS NOT TO IGNORE WHEN SERVICING YOUR VEHICLE

You might consider ignoring certain indications when they appear in your car in the hopes that they will go away and you won't have to pay to fix it. However, these are the signs you should never ignore.


1. A Puddle

If there is a puddle under your car, make sure you check its color. A clear puddle is usually just the air conditioner expelling humidity from the car. However, green, black, or golden oily fluid could be trouble, and you should rush to get it checked.

2. Red Dashboard Lights

Everyone wants to ignore these lights, but that's not a wise idea. These lights mean it's time for a trip to the dealer for major issues, so make sure you pay attention to them.

3. Brakes Acting Odd

If your brakes start squealing or grinding with weird noises, it's time to get them checked. The pads or rotors could have worn down, which could lead to disaster.

4. Loud Noises

Loud and unusual noises are a glaring warning sign. Listen for tapping and squealing noises, or whining sounds. You can ask a service provider to test drive your car to see what could be wrong.

5. Car Pulling to One Side

This is a sign that you may have poor wheel alignment or worn out steering components, both of which cannot be ignored.

6. Car Feels Slower on Hills

If your car starts feeling this way, you should check the air filter, the tire pressure and gas quality. These can all be solved by a simple servicing to get you back on the road.

7. Loose Car Parts

If you are involved in a collision-even a seemingly innocuous one-your car may be have underlying problems. The bumper or some of your molding could be loose, and if they fall off, could cause more accidents.

8. Flat Tires

This should be obvious, but flat tires are dangerous to you and others, so don't ignore them. Change it yourself or take it in for service.

9. Lights Are Out

You should check to make sure headlights and brake lights are always functioning. Driving with lights out is dangerous and causes major problems.

10. Suspicious Smells

Strong odors like that of gasoline, burning smells or chemical smells might be the most dangerous of this list. You should immediately get away from the vehicle and call for help.
